Questions about virtual queues, answered.
What is a virtual queue and how does Dibs work?
A virtual queue replaces the paper waitlist or clipboard at your front desk with a QR code customers scan from their phone. With Dibs, walk-ins scan the QR you print and tape up, see your live wait time, pick a party size, and tap join. They wait wherever they want — outside, in a nearby shop, in their car — and get a WhatsApp ping the moment it's their turn.
Do my customers need to download an app to join the queue?
No. Customers join from their phone's web browser after scanning the QR code. They sign in with Google so we can deliver turn notifications, but there's nothing to install. The whole flow is a webpage, not an app.
How long does it take to set up Dibs for my business?
Around five minutes. You add your business name, opening hours, your average service time, and a photo. Dibs immediately generates a unique link and a printable QR poster you can stick on your door. The first customer can join the queue the moment the poster is up.
How much does Dibs cost?
Dibs is free to start, with no credit card required. The Free plan covers one location and up to 75 tickets a month with unlimited Web Push notifications. Paid plans are priced in INR and include 18% GST: Pro is ₹999/month for a single location with WhatsApp pings, 90-day analytics, custom branding, and custom public-link controls, and Business is ₹3,999/month for up to five locations with multi-staff access across all of them and GST-ready exports. See the full breakdown on the pricing page.
How will customers actually get notified when it's their turn?
Each customer gets two notifications: a heads-up when there are three people ahead of them, and a 'you're up' the moment it's their turn. Pings go out as Web Push notifications (free, on Android, desktop, and iOS Safari installed as a PWA) and as WhatsApp messages if the customer added a phone number when they joined.
Which businesses is Dibs built for?
Dibs works for any business that has walk-ins and a finite number of seats, chairs, or service stations: cafes, brunch spots, restaurants, bars, salons, barber shops, nail studios, spas, walk-in clinics, dental offices, pharmacies, repair counters, and service desks. If you've ever taken a paper waitlist, Dibs replaces it.
Can I pause new joins when I'm at capacity?
Yes. From your dashboard you can pause the queue with one tap, which stops new walk-ins from being able to join while still letting you serve everyone who's already in line. Resume with one tap when things calm down.
What happens if a customer's phone dies or they don't have WhatsApp?
Their position in the queue is tied to their account, not their device — if they sign back in on another phone or laptop, they'll see exactly where they are. WhatsApp is a fallback channel; the primary turn-notification path is Web Push, which works on any modern browser without a phone number.
